For more information on specific forms of contraception we recommend looking at the website from the family planning association which provides information and leaflets about all forms of contraception and sexual health.
Specialist contraception services are available, including coil fitting (Dr Keller) and subdermal implant fitting (Dr Jones and Dr Keller). These require longer appointments and may require a prescription to be ordered in advance, please inform reception if you think you require these services.
Preparing for the insertion of an Intrauterine Device or an Intrauterine System
We offer a full contraception service, including fitting intrauterine devices (coils) at the surgery. We book half hour appointments with a specially trained GP and nurse for this.
It is important we are sure this is the right contraception for you before your fitting appointment. If you have not discussed your choice with a doctor, please contact the surgery to arrange a telephone or face to face appointment to discuss this prior to booking.
Please do watch the video below, and print out a copy of the consent form to bring with you to your appointment, as this contains important information to ensure we are able to go ahead and fit the coil on the day you come.
We recommend that you ensure you have at least an hour free after your coil fit to relax at home before rushing on with your day!
please click on the tab above to see a video about the procedure.
